He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Brooks Read of Concord; his brother-in-law, Dr. John W. Littlefield of MD; and by 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 8 nieces and ten nephews.
He was the husband of the late Miriam Phillips (Littlefield) Brooks who died in 1998.
Mr. Brooks was a longtime Boston lawyer nationally recognized as a leader in improving access to legal services for the poor.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Parish of Weston, 349 Boston Post Rd., Weston, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to the Greater Boston Legal Services, 197 Friend St, Boston, MA 02114, the Mass. Audubon Society Development Office, 208 South Great Rd., Lincoln, MA 01773, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
