Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 25

Author talk and storytimes at Weston Public Library, college recruitment process for student athletes, and more for your Wednesday in Weston.

1. Storytimes: The Weston Library will host at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., and at 3 p.m.

2. Author talk: Also at the library, at 7:30 p.m. author Erin Byers Murray will talk about her book Shucked, the story of quitting her high tech job as editor of DailyCandy Boston to spend 18 months working at the Island Creek Oyster Farm in Duxbury.

3. College recruitment for student athletes: At Weston High School at 7:30 p.m., Richard Escobar, head of guidance, and Coach Desaulniers, former WHS football coach and guidance counselor, will discuss the college process for student athletes. Similarities and differences from the regular college process will be emphasized, as well as NCAA Clearinghouse requirements and general recruiting practices. 4. Meeting: The Historical Commission will meet at 7 p.m. at Weston Town Hall.
