Bobby Valentine Fired; Do You Agree With the Call?

The Boston Red Sox fired Valentine after an unsuccessful year at Fenway Park.

The Boston Red Sox Thursday announced it has fired manager Bobby Valentine after the team experienced the worst season in decades.

In fact, the 69-93 record was the team’s worst since 1965 and the first time the team has finished last in the American League East in more than a decade.

Valentine’s one season at Fenway Park was full of losses and run-ins with players. Valentine, who led the New York Mets to the World Series in 2000, followed Terry Francona, a fan favorite who was dismissed a year ago after taking the team to two World Series titles.

We want to hear from you: Do you agree with the call? Was Valentine to blame for this year's horrible record? Who or what kind of manager would you like to see at Fenway Park?

Good riddance Botox Booby! Rumor is that Larry Lucchino called Valentine into his office, sat him down, then brought in Donald Trump to say "you're fired."

tee hee

if a team doesn't have chemistry, you may as well throw in the towel. The Red Sox had "it" in 2004 (well, personally i think there was some serious magic going on that year, too) and in 2007.

but if the players are sniping at each other, and acting like sissies on and off the field, dogging it and not caring at all, then the team ends up in just like Valentine did the other day in New York - in a ditch. And that is what happened with the Red Sox this year.

I do not think it's a coincidence that Vtek was recently hired.

I think Vtek would make a great manager or bring back Tito and bring up all the kids from Pawtucket who really want to play.

THANK GOD THIS SEASON IS OVER! (now we have to deal with the NHL labor dispute - hockey is "closed" at least until October 24th!)

Lyrics from Ella Fitzgerald’s version of “My Funny Valentine” are a good fit for the departure of Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine: “Behold the way our fine feathered friend; His virtue doth parade; Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend; The picture thou hast made”
