"Hypnosis Gone Wild," or Weston Students Gone Wild?

Friday night show at Weston High School provides laughs as students take to the stage in "altered" state.

More than 400 students and parents attended Friday night's "Hypnosis Gone Wild" show at Weston High School by acclaimed hypnotist Dan Candell, who has hypnotized over 24,000 people in his career. At WHS, Candell chose 20 high school students from the audience and then put them into a hypnotic trance. The audience was thoroughly entertained for over 90 minutes, as the hypnotized students performed hilarious behaviors such as petting and kissing an imaginary bird, trying to become Jennifer Lopez's next back-up dancer, and bellydancing.

In between each act, Candell would put students into a deep sleep by just counting to three. He would then describe the next side-splitting behavior to the students and the audience, awaken the students, and the hypnotized students would perform whatever Dan asked of them. The audience was totally immersed in the humor.

Candell is a certified hypnotherapist through the National Guild of Hypnotists. When he is not performing, he helps people in his private practice in his office in Marlborough to stop smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, overcome fears and phobias, and accomplish other goals.
