Changed Precincts, Voting Location to Affect Some Weston Households

With the 2012 Republican presidential primary coming to Massachusetts in less than six weeks, do you know where you're voting?

The 2012 Republican presidential primary is coming to Massachusetts on Super Tuesday, March 6, and a few changes are in place for some Weston voters.

According to the Town of Weston website, some households’ precincts will change, the result of precinct lines redrawn “to reflect changes in the town’s population and to anticipate the needs of the town’s election system for the next decade.”

“Because there has been uneven growth over the years in sections of the town, we were required by law to adjust the precinct lines town-wide to ensure that there is an even distribution of population across precincts,” the website states.

The new precinct boundaries will allow voters in most areas to continue to go to the same polling places to cast their ballots as they have in the past, according to the website. Households now in a new precinct include some Conant Road, Hastings Road, North Avenue and South Avenue addresses, among others.

As well, the Town Clerk’s office has announced that effective with the March 6 primary and until further notice, the polling location for Precincts 3 and 4 will be located at Westgate Church, 100 Winter St., due to construction at St. Demetrios Church. The Board of Selectmen designed a full list of official polling locations at its Jan. 10 meeting.
