At Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting at Town Hall, selectman Michael Harrity gave an update about the Case Estates soil remediation negotiations, telling attendees that progress is stalled pending further review by Harvard University, which owns the 62.5-acre parcel.

Other items of note at the meeting included:

• A preliminary review of warrant articles for Annual Town Meeting. Of note, said Town Manager Donna VanderClock, is the potential appropriation of funds for a roundabout at Case’s Corner, which “should generate some discussion.” Click here for a full list of articles.

• Following interviews at the last board meeting, the appointment of members to the Cultural Council. Following some discussion with current members, including one who expressed concern about the group growing too large, the selectmen unanimously voted to appoint all six candidates to the council, citing each person’s “outstanding” qualifications.

• A brief overview by Board Chair Doug Gillespie of the newly assembled Town Meeting Advisory Committee, which has formed for the purpose of increasing participation on Town Meeting, among other objectives. Gillespie, the Board of Selectman representative for the new committee, called the committee “volunteerism at its finest” and praised the “very diverse, strong opinions” expressed by its members, saying, "(Clearly) people want to see ways to increase (Town Meeting) participation and use voters' time more efficiently." The Town Advisory Committee will meet tonight at Weston Town Hall at 7 p.m.

The Board of Selectmen’s next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
