Weston Town Caucus Chooses Candidates for 2013 Ballot
Residents will elect 18 positions at the May 11, 2013, town election.
Weston residents overflowed from the auditorium at Weston Town Hall Monday night as Weston's 2013 Town Caucus took place.
The caucus sought to nominate candidates for the 18 positions that will be elected on May 11. The top two nominees, who earned at least 8 percent of the caucus vote, will be listed on the ballot as "caucus nominees."
Several nominations were decided by voice vote, as there were as many nominees as open positions, but the Board of Selectmen, Moderator, a vacancy on the Planning Board and a vacancy on the Recreation Commission required a ballot vote as there were more nominees than open positions.
No nominations were made for the 1-year Board of Assessors term to fill a vacancy.
In the end, a total of 121 ballots were cast, leading to contested races for the Board of Selectmen, Town Moderator, Recreation Commission and the Planning Board.
Individuals who were not nominated during Town Caucus can still get their names on the May 11 ballot by submitting nomination papers to the Weston Town Clerk by March 25.

This was a great and well attended event. It shows that democracy can work. I would like to thank those individuals who raised issues this year, for their voices made this event larger and more inclusive. It brought out some new faces such as Harvey Boshart and Glenn Cardoza and their fresh voices and ideas should make for a spirited debate. Isabbella Jancourtz stood up and nominated herself and gave an impassioned speech why she should be on the red commission and it shows, for she is one of the nominees. While my statements are not an endorsement of anyone, it is an endorsement that the process can and does work.

Please fix my Red commission to the Rec Commission. I missed that.
