Celebrate The Winter Olympics - Family Day

Want to learn about all the events at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia?  Want to make your own collection of stamps that feature the competition events to be held next month? The Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History is celebrating the 2014 Winter Olympics with a Family Day on Saturday, January 25 from noon to 4:00.

In addition to making a personal stamp collection, children and adults can make stamp snowflakes, snowmen and snowballs as well as do other arts and crafts activities with stamps.

There will be a special exhibit of stamps about the Winter Olympics and children can participate in a stamp scavenger hunt for prizes.  Children can also make stamp mosaics and design their own Winter Olympics stamp.

Everyone can also get a jump on Valentine’s Day by making their Valentine cards using real US Love stamps issued over the years.

There will be free light refreshments and children can have their photo made into a stamp.

As always, children will receive a free packet of stamps and tips about how to start a stamp collection. Children who arrive wearing mittens, ear muffs or scarves will receive a special stamp prize.  The gift shop and U.S. Post Office will also be open.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children ages 5 – 16. For more information go to www.spellman.org, info@spellman.org or 781-768-8367.
