Chair Tai Chi

Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

This gentle exercise program brings the benefits of traditional Tai Chi Chuan to the comfort and safety of a chair. The 45-minute class allows people who cannot stand or who lack confidence with their balance, such as those who use a walker, wheelchair or have a movement disorder, participate and benefit from this ancient exercise form. Tai Chi promotes balance, flexibility, range of motion, strength, and energy while reducing pain and stress. The class will be led by Sylvia McManus, who has more than 35 years’ experience in Tai Chi and yoga.

Sit & Be Fit

Fridays at 11:15 a.m.

This 45-minute class is for all abilities – from beginners to those looking for a more vigorous routine. Participants will engage all muscles in their bodies with cardio work and some arm weights, all while seated securely in a chair. This class is being taught by Whitney Place recreation coordinator Jazz CVitan.
