Mother's Day 5K Early Registration Deadline April 15th!

Register by April 15th and receive a free race tee shirt! Whether you’re a mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, brother, dad, son, cousin or friend, it’s time to run and celebrate the special women in your life.  STRIVERS Running Club For Girls and WOMEN RUN, Inc. are proud to host the inaugural Mother’s Day 5k Road Race on Sunday, May 11, 2014.  With a start time of 8:00 am, the race will begin and end at Natick High School and registration for the race is now open.

STRIVERS Founder and Coach Colleen Phelps stresses that the race isn’t just for women, it’s a race that everyone can participate in and enjoy.  “Our goal is to bring families and friends together for a healthy and fun way to start Mother’s Day,” said Phelps.  “You’ll be doing something great for yourself, with plenty of time to get home for Mother’s Day activities.  Whether this is your first 5k or you’re a 5k runner, this race has something for everyone, including awards in age categories and prizes.  Plus, in addition to running, participants will also be supporting an important organization, Embrace A Family.  Everyone wins on this holiday!”

A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Embrace A Family, a local non-profit organization that provides support for families faced with a cancer diagnosis.  Embrace A Family provides direct access to a community and support network to help with the financial and emotional strain on families during treatment and recovery phases of cancer.  “Embrace A Family has made such a difference for so many local families,” said Phelps.  “The community needs to know about this tremendous resource right in their own back yard and we hope our Mother’s Day race will help raise awareness for the incredible work that they do.”

The Mother’s Day 5k Road Race, the only one of its kind in Metrowest, comes on the heels of STRIVERS’ highly successful Annual Jingle Bell Run that attracts over 600 runners.  For the Mother’s Day 5k Road Race, STRIVERS is teaming up with WOMEN RUN, a Massachusetts-based running inspired lifestyle brand.  “Both STRIVERS and WOMEN RUN are fueled by the same passion, energy and enthusiasm for running and for making a difference,” explained Phelps.  “Whether you run, walk or cheer on the runners, you will be playing an important role in helping our community. And, we promise you’ll have a great time too!”

The 3.1 mile run begins at 8:00 am on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Natick High School.  A post race party with refreshments will occur on the Natick High School campus.  The entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for students 16 years or younger.  Runners who register by April 15, 2014 will receive a race t-shirt.  Sponsors of the race include Get in Shape for Women, Bill’s Pizzeria, and True Runner.  To register and for more information, visit www.womenrunwithstrivers.com.
