WESTON, MA— Three Weston residents were among 90 students to graduate from The Rivers School in Weston on Friday, June 13.
An honor roll student, Declan R. McCabe was a dedicated and independent student who balanced his many outside commitments with his love for the atmosphere on campus. He was a member of the varsity soccer team during his freshman and junior years, earning All-State, All-New England, and All-ISL honors during his junior season. Declan spent his senior season with the New England Revolution Academy team. He also received a 2013 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Silver Key for sculpture. The son of Mike and Polly McCabe, he will attend Georgetown University in the fall.
A high honor roll student, who was named a scholar athlete at the annual varsity awards ceremony and was elected to the Cum Laude Society on Prize Day, John J. McDaniel was a thought leader in the classroom. His work at his science internship last summer at The Bruker Corporation was featured at the SciX Conference in 2013 alongside many industry experts. He was a member of the varsity cross country and varsity track & field teams throughout his high school career, earning the 2012 Most Valuable Runner Award for cross country and the 2014 Integritas Award for track and field. The son of James McDaniel and Margaret Randle, he will attend the California Institute of Technology in the fall.

A high honor roll student, Benjamin S. Soloway was awarded the Columbia Book Award for Community Service at Prize Day this year for the work he is doing with Project Green Ball, a not-for-profit corporation he founded with his father. He was an extremely versatile member of the community, serving as school co-president and tennis captain his senior year while also challenging himself with AP and honors courses throughout his career. He was a two-time recipient of the Tozzer Tennis Award and played trumpet in the award-winning Rivers Big Band. The son of Scott Soloway and Deborah Shammash, he will attend Haverford College in the fall.
