Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected today and later tonight, with some storms having the potential to become severe. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes.

The NWS has also issued a flood advisory for the region until 7:30 p.m.

Earlier today parts of Connecticut received 2 inches of rain in less than an hour.

The NWS is advising motorists to not drive vehicles into areas where roadways are covered by water. The water depth may be too great to allow vehicles to cross safely.
