Patch Picks: Where to Pick Your Own Pumpkins

Last week we offered places to pick your own apples. With Halloween around the corner, now's the time to get your pumpkins.

The buzz: Hanson's Farm offers a large crop of pumpkins and gourdes, Native corn and corn stocks to help decorate for Halloween. There are many activities to do with the family. Besides the produce that is for sale, one can also go on a hayride to see the live farm animals. There is also a corn maze to go through while visiting the farm. Hanson's Farm has been a working farm since 1715.

The buzz: Pick your own pumpkin right off the vine. No admission charge or parking fee. The Pickard Farm pumpkin patch is located less than a mile from Kimball Farm Ice Cream Stand &witches woods. So plan a perfect fall fun day. Stop by Kimball's for an ice cream or mini golf, pick out your Jack-o'-lantern at the farm, then get spooked at witches woods.

The buzz: Verrill Farm owns 200 acres of land in both Sudbury and Concord and helps to create a rolling, wide-open space in this section of town. Serving the Concord community since 1922, the Verrill Family works hard to grow wholesome foods with both flavor and quality, and to create a natural atmosphere for its shoppers. In addition, you'll find these for fall decorating: pumpkins, mini pumpkins, gourdes and corn stalks.

But it's also a great place for Halloween fun with their annual spooky hayride, haunted gingerbread house workshop, pumpkin decorating and kids Halloween costume contest.
