Weston-based Biogen Idec Investigating Patient Death

The 59-year-old woman had been taking Tecfidera.

Biogen Idec, a Weston-based pharmaceutical firm, is investigating the death of a patient who recently took their new medication for multiple sclerosis according to the Boston Globe.

However, the company believes the patient's death is likely not related to the pill, according to the Globe. The 59-year-old woman died last week, two weeks after she stopped taking Tecfidera. She had been taking it for five weeks because of side effects.
