Community Update

Tonight the people of Weston can give each other and themselves a wonderful gift. No Santa doesn't have to come down our chimneys or fill our stockings. All we have to do is come to Town Meeting at Weston High School at 7:30 and vote, whatever your viewpoint. Mr. William Sandalls in a previous letter has proposed we pass over articles 3 and 4. That would be the most sensible thing to do but may not be put forth this evening. Failing that I suggest you vote NO on 3 and 4.
Proposals can and should come forth before Spring. After more than proposal is on the table we can consider whether we need this zoning change which could open Pandora's box. My own preference is for a Cultural and Heritage Cener, open to all the people every day.Vote Yes on articles 5 and 6. Picture this:
"A shcool bus delivers a group of children to the Josiah Smith Tavern. They are greeted by a man in Revolutionary War dress. He shows them several rooms furnished as they would have been in 1775. There are interactive displays for them to use, the one in the Tap- room particularly interesting. There are men talking sounding something like their fathers. Loudly and laughing, "When do you thing the British will come out of Boston", "Do ye think they will come this way?" " Any news of Sam Adams?"There are several video games, one "Treasurer of the Past" especially designed for Weston's youngsters. Upstairs, a group of women are preparing a flower show (as we did some 30 years ago or so). Over in the Barn Cafe another group of children are listening and questioning some re-enactors dressed in World War I clothes and describing their boyhoods in Weston. In the evening some of us can have supper in the Barn Cafe or Tavern Pub and then walk over to the Old Library to see an art display or look at the newest exhibit of the Weston Historical Society.  A dream? Yes, but it can be ours if we make the correct choices. This and much, much more can be ours. To start, vote NO on articles 3 &4. Yes on articles 5 &6.
