5 Things: Several Meetings, Acting Opportunity and Mona Lisa Goes Home

A few things you need to know on Dec. 12, 2012, in Weston.

1. New Area Theatre Company. The Wayside Theatre Company is up and running in the Weston area with plans for an inaugural production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat." Auditions will be in January, but actors must register for an audition spot.

2. Meetings Today. Several groups will gather today including the Tree Advisory Group at 2:30 p.m.; the Advisory Committee on Town Meeting at 7 p.m.; the Cultural Council at 7:15 p.m.; and the Traffic and Sidewalk Committee at 7:30 p.m. More details are available on the Town of Weston website.

3. "The Dark Knight Rises." Connect with your inner Batman as the Weston Public Library screens "The Dark Knight Rises" today as its teen movie. This is a free event and drinks and snacks will be provided.

4. Newsletters. If you aren't getting the Weston Patch newsletter in your inbox each morning, you're missing out on a simple way to see the latest headlines. Sign up today for daily, weekly or breaking newsletters (or all three!)

5. Something to Smile About. On this date in 1913, Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting "Mona Lisa" was found inside waiter Vincenzo Peruggia's hotel room in Florence. Peruggia had once worked at the Louvre and had participated in a heist while there. The painting of the coyly smiling woman had been missing for more than two years.
