5 Things: Budget Discussions, A Historical Exhibit and More

A few things you need to know on Jan. 8, 2013, in Weston.

1. Selectmen Talk Public Safety Building. Weston selectmen tonight will hear a recommendation from the Police Station Study Committee and will discuss the FY14 budget, among other topics. The agenda is available online.

2. Other Meetings. In addiiton to the Board of Selectmen, multiple other committees will gather tonight including the Board of Assessors, Conservatin Commission, Planning Board and others. For a full list, see the Town of Weston calendar.

3. New Exhibit Celebrating Weston. The Weston Historical Society is currently presenting "The Farmers’ Precinct: Three Centuries of Weston History" at the Weston Public Library. The exhibit is part of the town's 300th anniversary celebration and will be on display through Jan. 29.

5. A Sad Anniversary. It was on this date in 2011, that Sen. Gabrielle Giffords was injured in an Arizona shooting rampage that killed six people and injured 13, including Giffords, according to History.com. The gunman was sentenced to life in prison without parole as part of a plea deal.
