Five Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 6

Book signing by pastry chef, registration for winter programs starts, and more for your Tuesday in Weston.

1. Book group: The of the Weston Public Library is meeting at 9:30 a.m. to discuss Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. The book group is free and open to everyone.

2. Pastry chef: Also at the library, acclaimed pastry chef Joanne Chang, chef-owner of Flour Bakery + Café in Cambridge, will present and sign her book "Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston's Flour Bakery + Café” at 7:30 p.m.

3. Meetings: In town government, the Conservation Commission and Planning Board will each hold meetings at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

4. Winter programs: Online registration for winter recreation programs starts today at 7 p.m. Walk-in registration begins Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8:30 a.m. Click here to see the winter program brochure.

5. Outside: Nothing lasts forever, especially weather in New England. While the mild temperatures are expected to continue, expect rain for the next few days, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation today.
