Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 1

Reading of play by WHS teacher, library events and more to start your week, and new month.

2. Play reading: Longtime Weston High School theater teacher and nationally produced playwright John Minigan will be joined by professional actors from Boston’s award-winning Orfeo Group and guest artists to present a reading of his new full-length play Concordance, based on the life of 18th Century Bible scholar Alexander Cruden. The event is from 7-9 p.m. at the Weston High School media center.

2. Early dismissal library event: It's early dismissal for all schools today, and at 1 p.m. at the Weston Library, children in grades K to 5 are invited to  while listening to stories.

3. Journaling for adults: At 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Library, a four-week course called begins today. The course is free and open to all adults. Space is limited to eight, so please call the library or visit the Information Desk to register.

4. Meetings: Meetings today include the Tree Advisory Group at 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall and the Permanent Building Committee at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

5. Outside: Today there's a chance of showers, mainly before 3 p.m., followed by gradually sunny skies and a high near 55.
