Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 12

Boys' and girls' swim meets, discussion for parents at high school, and more for your Thursday in Weston.

1. Swim meets: Both the boys' and girls' varsity swim teams compete against Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School at the Weston Middle School pool at 4 p.m.

2. Used books: The Field School continues seeking used books for its annual Kaiisi Book Fair to be held later this month which will help their friends in Uganda build a school and library. You can bring your books to the Kaiisi donation box in the Weston High School lobby through the end of the month.

3. Discussion for parents: Parents of ninth- and tenth-graders are invited to an open discussion about life at the high school for underclassmen and issues facing adolescents at 7 p.m. in the Media Center. The session will be repeated tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.

4. Driving school registration: Weston High School students can register for Bay State Driving School classes today during lunch periods at the WHS cafeteria. Classes will be held at the high school from Feb. 27-March 14, 3-5:30 p.m.

5. Outside: Today's weather should be a mixed bag, with a mix of rain and snow becoming all rain after 4 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 100 with little or no snow accumulation expected.
