Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 3

Vacation's over, time to break out the blankets, and more for your Tuesday in Weston.

1. Back to reality: Everything's back to normal today--schools, town offices and everything that was closed for the holidays resumes, so be aware of traffic.

2. WEEFC meeting: Meetings today start bright and early with a meeting of the Weston Education Enrichment Fund Commitee (WEEFC) at 7:30 a.m. at Case House.

3. Evening meeting: The other meeting on today's docket is one of the Conservation Commission, which will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

4. Still pretty, or becoming an eyesore? Are your holiday lights still up? Many people (including your editor) utilized the weekend and the Monday holiday to remove their decorations, but research indicates that traditionally, the tree and outdoor lights are taken down after the 12 days of Christmas are over, or the day after Epiphany, which is Jan. 6.

5. Outside: Hopefully you enjoyed the warmer-than-usual temperatures of the past few months--winter is here this week. Get the blankets out--today's high is expected to reach a chilly 28.
