Five Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 6

Hypnotist show at WHS, slight chance of morning snow, and more for your Friday in Weston.

1. Hypnotist at Weston High: Count backward from 10 ... the public is invited to a at Weston High School at 7 p.m., where acclaimed hypnotist Dan Candell presents his show "Hypnosis Gone Wild" in the high school auditorium. The show is appropriate for all ages and tickets are $10.

2. Full sports schedule: include freshman boys' basketball vs. Waltham High School at 4 p.m.; boys' junior varsity basketball vs. Waltham High School at 5:30 p.m.; boys' varsity basketball vs. Waltham High School at 7 p.m.; boys' varsity swimming at Boston Latin School at 4 p.m.; boys' varsity wrestling meet vs. Boston Latin, Westford Academy and Newton South High School, 140 Brandeis Rd., Newton Center at 5 p.m.; freshman girls' basketball at Waltham High School, 617 Lexington St., Waltham at 4 p.m.; girls' junior varsity basketball at Waltham High School at 5:30 p.m.; and girls' varsity basketball at Waltham High School at 7 p.m.

3. At the library: at the Weston library, where every Friday patrons are invited to enjoy coffee, music and snacks in the reading room at 10 a.m.

4. Do you have used books? The Field school has an annual Kasiisi Book Fair in January to benefit their friends in Uganda in building their school and library. There will be a donation box located in the Middle School lobby through the month of January; all types of books are accepted.

5. Outside: There's a chance of snow today between 10-11 a.m., which will likely give way to rain. Otherwise the day should be mostly cloudy with a high near 43.
