Five Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 21

Government meetings, deer impact survey on town website, and is your turkey out of the freezer?

 

1. Meetings: Town government will hold meetings of the Board of Assessors, the Board of Appeals and the School Committee. Check the town website for times and locations.

2. Deer survey: Also on the website is information on a deer impact survey the Conservation Commission is asking residents to participate in. Check Weston Patch later today for a story about the impact of deer in town.

3. Book club: Fourth and fifth graders are invited to participate in an at Weston Public Library at 2:20 p.m.

4. Weather: Unfortunately, yesterday’s warm temperatures aren’t expected to continue into today. The skies will remain sunny, but the high is expected to be a more seasonal 48.

5. T-day: Time to take your turkey out of the freezer—according to Butterball.com, the time recommended for thawing a turkey in the refrigerator is one day per every four pounds. Alternatively, it takes about 30 minutes per pound to thaw a wrapped turkey in cold water.
