Get Out!: Concerts, Art and More, June 24-26

It's almost the weekend. You're bored. You're looking for something to do. You've come to the right place.

Where/When: The Acton Jazz Cafe, 452 Great Road, Acton, Friday, June 24, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Acton Café will host Patrice Monahan and The Shufflin’ Time Band. Patrice Monahan, a genuine soulful artist, performs with some of Boston’s finest musicians, fusing jazz, swing, a bit of funk, a touch of the blues and percussive tap dance. Shufflin’ Time’s musical compositions blend a strong rhythm section of piano, bass, drums, and guitar, adding the temperature-changing sounds of the saxophone.

Where/When: Church of The Holy Spirit, 169 Rice Road, Wayland, Sunday, June 26, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Find out why Wayland has more in common with Dakar, Senegal thanyou might think. Watch “Settled in a Swamp,” a 5-minute film about the impact of changes in land use and climate on people in the West African nation of Senegal, followed by a conversation and participatory game about what surprisingly similar changes mean for flood risk right here in Wayland. Facilitated by international climate experts and Wayland residents Janot Mendler de Suarez and Pablo Suarez.

Where/When: Jonathan Hosmer House, 300 Main St., Acton, Sunday, June 26, 2 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Acton Historical Society's museum, the 1760 Jonathan Hosmer House, will be open to the public, along with the barn and Jenks Library.

5. STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

When/Where: Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road., Concord, Saturday, June 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Why Go: Live entertainment, hayrides, ponies, the Tanglewood Marionettes and fresh strawberries.
