Your Water Could Be Discolored in the Coming Days

This regular activity could cause some discoloration of Weston's water.

The Weston Department of Public Works water division plans to begin hydrant flushing on Monday, April 29.

The process will continue throughout the next two months, beginning on the south side of town and progressing to the north, and is expected to conclude on June 28, according to an announcement.

Residents could notice water discoloration caused by the small particles dislodged during the flushing.

The announcement warns that the discolored water could stain laundry, especially whites, so it is recommended that residents check their water for discoloration between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, which is when the flushing will take place.

If water is discolored, residents should run their cold water for one to two minutes or until it clears.

The DPW regularly flushes hydrants in order to remove sediment buildup in the water mains. If left unchecked, the sediment could lead to problems with the water's taste, odor and turbidity, the announcement reads.
