Portions of the Weston300 Winterfest Postponed Due to Weather

Portions of the Jan. 12, 2013, celebration will be postponed due to the less-than-wintry forecast this weekend, but there are some significant events taking place as planned.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, Weston will kick off its year-long 300th anniversary celebration.

But even the best laid plans for a 300th anniversary can fall victim to Mother Nature.

Winterfest was scheduled to take place on the Weston Town Green Saturday with activities such as sledding, ice skating, snowman building and more. Unfortunately, the current weather forecast is calling for an almost springlike day with temperatures in the mid-40s ... and no snow in sight.

With that in mind, the Weston300 team has decided to postpone the Town Green Winterfest activities until Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

However, the commemoration and candlelight reception scheduled for Jan. 12, will take place as planned. Everyone is invited to a commemoration at the Weston High School Auditorium at 4:30 p.m. and a candlelight cocktail reception at the Town Hall from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
