Week in Review: Jan. 3 to 9

The week in review for Jan. 3—9.

The first week back at school, the first full week at work for many of us... No wonder it was a pretty quiet week in Weston.

  • Things started off with reports of the first child of 2011 born at Newton-Wellesley Hospital:
  • While we've received Census data for the state, town-by-town information won't be available for a few months:  Be sure to check back with Weston Patch for relevant info later in the year from the Census.
  • In police and fire, we caught up with the holiday backlog of police logs: ; ; and
  • Property tax bills are due Feb. 1.
  • We learned some lucky person bought a valuable lottery ticket from a convenience store in Wayland:
  • The turned out to be not so bad. Hope you were able to check out some , if you're in the market, or see what's available to .
  • As part of an occasional series, we brought you information about town committees that need some help:
  • Rep. Ed Markey released a statement on the terrible tragedy in Arizona on Saturday afternoon:
  • And don't forget, sports editor Mike Stoller wraps up the week in sports every Sunday in the Sports Watch:
