Weekend Happenings: Earth Day, Arts and Crafts, Theater

It's shaping up to busy an entertaining weekend.

When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (rain date is Sunday) at the Weston Town Green, 400 Boston Post Rd, Weston.
Why Go: This annual event has a reputation for being a good time for children ages kindergarten through fourth grade. Games, crafts, entertainment and music all with a kid-focus will be featured. Proceeds from the event benefit the Kasiisi Project.

2. Weston Arts & Crafts Spring Awards Show and Sale

When/Where: Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday from noon-5 p.m.; all three days at the Barn at the Josiah Smith Tavern, 358 Boston Post Road, Weston.
Why Go: This is a perfect opportunity to pick up a truly unique Mother's Day or Father's Day gift. Items on display will include paintings, ceramics, jewelry, woodworks and furniture, fabric arts, glass, and more. And everything is locally crafted.
Price: Free

3. Annual Class Play Competition

When/Where: Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, 36 Charter Road, Acton.
Why Go: Each class, freshmen through seniors, will perform a fully student directed and produced 30-minute play. The competition and awards help ensure these are quality productions with plenty of surprises and fun.
Price: $11

4. Earth Day Trail-a-Thon

When/Where: Sunday at noon at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Massachusetts Memorial Forest, 330 Dutton Road, Sudbury.
Why Go: Celebrate Earth Day by walking a 10K or 3K trail through the forest. In true, "a-thon" fashion, walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorships for their walks. Naturalists will be located along the trails to talk with walkers about the many habitats existing on the property. A scavenger hunt, refreshments and recognition patches are also part of the event.
Price: All adult walkers must commit to a minimum contribution of $25.

When/Where: Sunday from noon-3 p.m. at the Wayland Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland.
Why Go: More than 50 exhibitors, games, food, prizes and an opportunity to meet the Wayland Patch mascot, Jersey (assuming it doesn't rain, that is). On top of all that, you'll have a chance to learn more about taking care of the planet while having a good time with the whole family.
