Weekend Happenings: Fishing Derby, Antiques, Plant Sale and More

A few things to do near home this weekend.

Wayland Youth Fishing Derby
When/Where:
Saturday, May 11, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. at Mill Pond (Plain Road in Wayland)
Why Go: This annual youth derby for kids through eighth grade is a good time for the family and a fundraiser for the Vernon Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley. There's not entry fee to fish, but every should bring their own gear. Proceeds from food and raffle ticket sales will go to the cancer center. Everyone goes home with a ribbon.

Antiques Roadshow at EPOCH of Weston
When/Where: Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at EPOCH of Weston (75 Norumbega Road, Weston)
Why Go: Bring your collecitbles and antiques to Weston's own versino of "Antiques Roadshow." Peter Yvanovich, SPA, founder and president of New England Inventory Appraisal Services, Inc., will be on hand to appraise valuables and discuss his experiences in the field. Bring your family heirlooms but no coins, stamps, jewelry or firearms.

Sudbury Garden Club's Annual Plant Sale
When/Where:
Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. at Sudbury Town Hall (322 Concord Road, Sudbury).
Why Go:
It's that time of year when you realize how much neglect your garden suffered all winter. Pretty it up with some plants from the Sudbury Garden Club. And if plants aren't your thing, go for the bake sale table.

Especially for Me! Free Evening for Families with Deaf or Hard of Hearing Children
When/Where:
Saturday, May 11, 5:30 p.m. at Discovery Museums (177 Main St., Acton)
Why Go: Both museums will be open for this special night conducted in conjunction with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program of Children's Hospital Boston. ASL interpreters will be available.
