When/Where: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Heard Farm Orchard (5 Heard Road, Wayland).
Why Go: Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 16. This apple-picking shabbat is your opportunity to pick just enough apples "to dip in [your] honey on Rosh Hashanah," according to the event listing posted by Ma'yan Tikva.

When/Where: Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. Groups are meeting at a few locations including 79 Little Farms Road, Framingham, and the Acton Canoe Launch on Rt. 62 next to Moscariello's Power Equipment.
Why Go: If you enjoy the beauty of the area's rivers, take a moment to help keep them that way. Volunteers will pick up trash along the river and enjoy a pizza celebration following the clean-up.

When/Where: Saturday, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at Longfellow's Wayside Inn (72 Wayside Inn Rd, Sudbury).
Why Go: Fall is the season of 5K races in the area. This event features a kids run along with the adult 5K.
Price: Same-day registration in $25.
When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at 1 Pleasant Street, Westford
Why Go: "You're never too old to try rowing," according to the event announcement for this regatta. Members of the Westford-Littleton Crew Team will offer instructions.
Price: $15 per rower.
When/Where: Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. All shows will take place at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School.
Why Go: Up with People travels the world searching out the best talent for a two-hour musical production. "Voices," the new show, features the energy and talent of a cast and staff of 100 people representing 20 countries.
Price: $20 in advance for adults; $15 for students, seniors and children (Tickets are available online)
