14th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

When/Where: Monday, 8:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (320 Boston Post Road, Weston)

The Buzz: Former State Sen. Susan Fargo will give the remarks during this year's breakfast. The ticket price includes the speaker, a breakfast buffet and the annual Martin Luther King Jr. gift to Weston Public Schools.

Personal Training Open House

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at One2One BodyScapes (241 Boston Post Road, Wayland)

The Buzz: If you're still going strong on that New Year's resolution (or perhaps need a bit of outside motivation), this open house could be for you. Stop by to meet the trainers, check out the studio, enjoy a snack and grab a deal on personal training packages.

Price: Free

Snowshoe Clinic

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon at Memorial Forest (Dutton Road, Sudbury)

The Buzz: Ever wonder what snowshoeing is all about? This is your chance to find out. The SVT and Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) of Acton and Northborough will teach the basics during this clinic. ring your own snowshoes or borrow a pair from the clinic instructors.

Price: Free for Sudbury Valley Trustees members; $10 for non-members.

Knights of Columbus Free Throw Tournament

When/Where: Saturday, noon at Gen. John Nixon Elementary School (472 Concord Road, Sudbury)

The Buzz: Boys and girls ages 10-14 are invited to step up to the line and take part in the local free throw contest. The winners will advance to the district contest with a chance to head to the state tournament.

Price: Free and registration is available at the door.

Opening Reception for 'Shades of Abstraction'

When/Where: Saturday, 4 p.m. at Powers Gallery & Fine Framing (144 Great Road, Acton)

The Buzz: Many of the artists for this new exhibit will be in attendance. The exhibit features works in a wide variety of mediums and will be on display through mid-February.
