14th ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR BREAKFAST

 As Weston celebrates its 300th Anniversary, Interfaith Citizens Advocating Racial Equality (ICARE) invites you to join us at the 14th Annual Weston Martin Luther King Breakfast on Monday, January 21, 2013.  This uplifting event will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 320 Boston Post Road, in Weston, MA. from 8:30 to 10:30 amIt will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy community fellowship and reflect on the principles so faithfully exemplified by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as we celebrate his holiday.


This year The Honorable Susan C. Fargo is the featured speaker.  A State Senator for the 3rd Middlesex district, which included her hometown of Lincoln as well as Weston and Waltham and six other towns, Ms. Fargo is a Democrat who had served since 1997.  (Before 2003 she represented the Fifth Middlesex District)  Prior to serving in the legislature, Ms. Fargo was a public management professional who served on the Lincoln board of selectmen and the Middlesex executive committee.


In February 2012, Senator Fargo announced that she would not seek a ninth term.  She recently co-chaired the Senate Committee on Public Health and is well known for her push to ban smoking in the work place and her ability to enact tax credits for senior citizens. Ms. Fargo is respected by her Legislative colleagues because of her continuing ability to advocate for underserved residents in her district and throughout the Commonwealth.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for seniors and children age 12 and under. They cover a full breakfast buffet, the speaker and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Gift to the Weston Public Schools.
