Live Music for Teens/Young Adults

Rock Off Main Street, a monthly all-ages rock band program, is set to host two RADAR Award winning bands, The Cranks and The Meadows Brothers, on July 25th, 2014 at The Center for Arts in Natick. Sponsored by Berklee College of Music and the Weston and Needham Cultural Councils, Rock Off Main Street (ROM) is an opportunity for young bands to practice their craft in a high quality space with professional lighting and a professional sound tech. ROM has been an extremely successful program since its inception seventeen years ago, and many alumni of the program have gone on to successful careers in the music industry.

The RADAR Awards were started in 2014 by Pavoh, Inc., an arts non-profit dedicated to helping young musicians find accessible learning opportunities that drive artistic growth and empower self-expression, in partnership with The New England Music Awards.

The Cranks are twins Connor and Haley Gowland and Alex Markoski. They’re a young indie, alt-rock band with a dynamic, open sound with captivating melodies, female vocals in the forefront, with songwriting and lyric themes you would expect from veterans. The Meadows Brothers are Ian and Dustin Meadows, 19 and 17. The duo visualized the band as a manifestation of their love of folk music, songwriting, old instruments, live performance, and high-energy showmanship.

About Rock Off Main Street

TCAN’s successful Rock Off Main rock music program is an all-ages show that provides a venue for local bands to take their eclectic mix of music out of their basements and put it on stage where it belongs, performing for their peers. Shaking the old firehouse for the past seventeen years, Rock Off Main features the best pop, emo, punk, ska, hardcore, and indie bands in the Boston area. The program is generously supported by Berklee College of Music, and by a grant from the Weston and Needham Cultural Councils, which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

About TCAN

The Center for Arts in Natick was founded in 1997 with a mission to bring people together through a common interest in the arts. Its initial success in a rented storefront became the foundation for a multi-year $2M capital campaign to purchase and restore Natick’s historic Central Firehouse building, originally constructed in 1875, as a dedicated performance space and gallery. The firehouse provides a home for over 200 concert events annually, year-round children’s theater and dance education programs, visual arts exhibits and receptions, and a thriving community theater organization. TCAN has since grown to become the MetroWest region’s premiere nonprofit arts organization, with strong patron support from every town in the region.

TCAN is an authorized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
