Walden Plans Conference on Advances in Treatment of Eating Disorders: Integrating Research with Clinical Practice

WALTHAM, Mass., Aug. 6, 2013 – Walden Behavioral Care, LLC, one of the country’s leading hospitals for treating eating disorders, announced today that it will hold a day long conference, “Advances in the Treatment of Eating Disorders: Integrating Research with Clinical Practice,” from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at the LaCava Center, Bentley College, 75 Forest St.

After opening remarks, Ralph E. Carson, Ph.D., R.D., Executive Director of FitRx, will open the conference with, “Low Carb Mania – Facts and Fantasies,” beginning at 9:15 a.m.

James Greenblatt, M.D., Walden’s Medical Director of Eating Disorder Services, will present, “Food Addiction: The Biology of Appetite and Binge-Eating Disorder,” at 10:45 a.m.

Clinical psychologist Margo Maine, Ph.D., F.E.A.D., C.E.D.S., co-founder of the Maine & Weinstein Specialty Group, and a founder of and advisor to the National Eating Disorder Association, will present, “The Weight-Bearing Years: Eating Disorders and Body Image Despair in Adult Women,” beginning at 1 p.m.

Kamryn T. Eddy, Ph.D. and Jennifer J. Thomas, Ph.D., co-directors of the Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, will present, “CBT for Body Image: Breathing Life into the Manual,” at 2 p.m.

Karen Milller, Ph.D., director of the Neuroendocrine Research Program in Women’s Health at Massachusetts General Hospital, will present, “New Hormone Treatments for Anorexia Nervosa,” beginning at3:15 p.m.

Registration will be from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  Breakfast and lunch will be served.
