Weekend Happenings: Dr. Seuss, Artwork in a Quarry and Puppies

Plenty to do this weekend without venturing too far from home.

When/Where: Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wellesley Middle School, 50 Kingsbury St, Wellesley.

Why Go: Who doesn't love a good romp with Dr. Seuss? This is the debut production of the Welleslay Theater Project and is not to be missed.

Antique Truck Show

When/Where: Sunday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hudson Elks Club, 91 Park St, Hudson.

Why Go: If your heart beats a bit faster every time you hear an old engine, this is the show for you. Touted as the largest antique truck show in the state, this one will feature plenty for the truck-lovers as well as a food, vendors and kids' events.

Price: Adults, $5; Children under 12, free.

What the Butler Said: Living with Servants

When/Where: Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Gore Place, 52 Gore St., Waltham.

Why Go: Admit it. You are enraptured with Downton Abbey. You've been counting the days until the tumultuous lives of servants and the served collide once again on your television set. Scratch that itch with a tour of The Gore Place in Wlatham and a talk about what it was like to live in a house full of servants.

Price: $14

Puppy Playtime

When/Where: Saturday at noon at Uleashed by Petco, 395 Massachusetts Ave., Acton.

Why Go: Step away from the cute puppy and kitten videos on YouTube and take your new puppy to meet some real puppies at this socialization event. Trainers will be on hand to offer tips in puppy raising. If you happen to just be shopping at Unleashed Saturday afternoon, be sure to take a look and say, "Aww."

Price: Free

Contemporary Arts International Opens "Passions" Show

When/Where: Sunday at 1 p.m. at 69 Quarry Road, Acton.

Why Go: This event is a showcase of repurposing and beauty. The gallery and multiple outdoor sculptures are located in a former rock quarry. The new gallery show, "Passions" features paintings and multimedia pieces by Hungarian-born artist Steven Balough.

Price: Donations are appreciated as Contemporary Arts International is a nonprofit.
