Set the record straight, Mr. Coburn.

One of the ugliest moments in our May 14 meeting came when my credibilty was attacked by another voter, who rose to speak after Ed Coburn contradicted my statement that I'd been talking with the selectmen about the substance of Article 25 since 2012.

Ed said that the first he'd heard of it was in the Fall of 2013, but the December 10, 2012 Minutes of the Weston Board of Selectmen, which Coburn himself drafted and signed, show that I did in fact present my ideas for affordable housing and a parking lot for the coming rail trail on Gun Club Lane that day.

I have asked Mr. Coburn to publicly correct his very public mistake, but have received no response from him yet.

I wonder when we will hear from Ed Coburn on setting the record straight?

Wonder no more Isabella, I did not see any email from you after town meeting about this and have just been referred to this post and am responding immediately. My statement was in reference to your desire to bring this to town meeting as a citizen's petition. I realize you had brought up the possibility of acquisition of the property in December of 2012, and it was subsequently discussed at the next Selectmen's meeting in January 2013. Following that, my understanding was that the affordable housing, conservation, and recreation committees all indicated they did not have an interest in pursuing the property. I then didn't hear anything more about it and was under the impression that the idea had been adequately considered and dropped until you brought forward your citizen's petition earlier this year. I am sorry that my imprecise wording played any role in your feeling attacked. That was not my intent. Thank you for bringing this to my attention so that I could set the record straight.

Thanks, Ed. I appreciate your clearing this up. It's strange you did not get my e-mail, but we're all set now.

Ms. Jancourtz: Shouldn't the one to apologize to you and set the record straight be Dave Harmon, who repeatedly makes dismissive non fact based criticisms of his fellow Weston residents at Town Meetings? William C. Crum
