A Waltham man was uninjured Tuesday night when his vehicle skidded on a patch of ice and smashed into a tree in north Weston before catching on fire.
Weston police received a call at 11:08 p.m. Tuesday about a vehicle fire at 90 Concord Road. Crews responded and found a vehicle crashed into a tree and in flames, but the driver was nowhere to be found.
Weston Fire crews extinguished the flames, which hadn't spread to the surrounding area, and had the vehicle towed.
According to Weston Police Lt. John Lyons, the driver of the vehicle returned to the scene where he told police he'd crashed the car after sliding on some ice. He told police he worked at the Campion Center about 1 mile away and left the vehicle to walk to the center and phone police.
The man was uninjured in the crash and no charges will be filed, according to Lyons.
