The driver of a motorcycle that crashed into a telephone pole yesterday has died.

According to a Weston Police press release, the operator of the motorcycle is believed to have veered off the road on Chestnut Street yesterday afternoon and struck a utility pole just before 3 p.m. Police found the driver, along with one passenger – both “young males,” on the ground with injuries. Both were wearing helmets. The passenger is being treated for injuries.

The names of both the driver and passenger are not being released at this time, according to police. Neither are Weston residents.

An emailer said the motorcycle driver may be a Regis College student from Braintree.

The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.

I believe the driver killed was the son of a Weston resident according to an online source. The driver killed was Michael Kaplan of Braintree and he was the son of Ron Kaplan of Weston, if the story online is correct.

People drive too fast on Chestnut street, it wouldn't shock me if another vehicle was responsible for this accident.
