Update: Motorcyclist Dies in Early Morning Crash

A motorcyclist was found dead on the scene after an early morning crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Natick, near the Weston line.

A motorcyclist was killed around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after colliding with another motorcycle on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Natick, near the Weston line, according to Massachusetts State Police.

After a preliminary investigation, state police from the Weston barracks determined that two motorcycles in adjacent lanes collided. Dewayne C. Holmes, 40, 0f Springfield was driving a 2008 Suzuki GSX 130 in the far right lane and reportedly collided with Robert Cephas, 39, of Springfield, on a 2006 Suzuki GSX 130. Both motorcyclists were ejected and Holmes hit a 2007 Infinity FX driven by a 43-year-old Northborough man, who was traveling in the right-hand lane in front of the motorcycles.

Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene. Cephas, who suffered serious injuries, was sent to the Framingham division of the MetroWest Hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.

The far right and middle lanes were closed until 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

Police said speed may be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. The and the Department of Highway Transportation's highway division responded to the crash.

The location on the Pike where the crash occurred, at mile marker 118, is where  on Thursday, a motor vehicle crossed over from the left lane and went off an embankment before flipping three times. and placed the driver and a 5-year-old girl in the hospital.
