OMGPD: St. Patrick's Day Punches, Busted By the Dog Walker and More

Our weekly roundup of some of the more unusual police reports from around the Boston area. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Good Thing the Dog Needed to Go Out

A Wayland dog walker arrived at her client's Main Street home Monday, March 18, to find a strange pickup truck in the driveway and an unknown man in the client's home. Police say the dog walker spoke with the man, assuming he was supposed to be there, but also aware that he was "trying to get her out of the house quickly," police said. That afternoon the homeowner discovered that a water jug containing $500 or more of loose change was missing and two basement windows had been broken. Joseph Sweeney is being held on a probation violation warrant and a Wayland Police warrant. http://patch.com/A-2WhY

Not-So-Lucky Start to St. Patrick's Day

Weston Police noticed a car driving slowly along the road at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 17. The driver pulled over and when police approached, they noticed the driver's glasses were broken and he had cuts and bruises on his face. Police also noticed that Brendan Sullivan was intoxicated and arrested him for OUI. An investigation then revealed that a woman walking down the road a short distance away was the Sullivan's girlfriend. She was angry at Sullivan for driving after drinking and their disagreement had become physical, police said.
