OUI Arrest Made in Thursday Morning's Lexington Street Vehicle Crash

The following information was provided by the Weston Police Department. Where charges or arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Commuters encountered a shut down portion of Lexington Street in Weston Thursday morning, tying up traffic and causing general delays.

According to Weston Police, the situation was caused by an intoxicated driver who crashed into a utility pole near 62 Lexington St., at about 2 a.m. the night before.

Weston Police received a call from a roadside assistance company at about 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 21. The company reported that a person had contacted them to have his vehicle towed.

Police responded to the scene and found a vehicle crashed into a utility pole, and the pole and wires down.

Police subsequently arrested Vinit Patel, 40, of 9 Stratford Way in Lincoln, charging him with operating under the influence of liquor.

According to police, Patel crashed his car and then called roadside assistance for a tow, but roadside assistance contacted local police.

A portion of Lexington Street was shut down until 1 p.m. Thursday to allow crews to repair the pole and damaged wires.
