UPDATE (11:48 a.m.)

According to Westford Police captain Victor Neal, town police officials were informed at 4 p.m. on Monday by the Lowell Juvenile Probation office that a juvenile offender living in Westford with an ankle monitoring bracelet could not be found, although there was suspicion that he had taken a particular vehicle.

Around 8:30, an officer spotted the vehicle on Oak Hill Road and a high speed chase ensued through the back streets of Westford, looping back around to Route 40 (Groton Road), at which point the Westford Police called off their pursuit for safety reasons and asked for assistance from the State Police.

The 16-year-old juvenile, whose name has not been given due to his age, currently faces two charges of alleged failure to stop for a police officer and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, one set of charges from Westford Police and another set from State Police.

Captain Neal said these charges were likely to be merged, however, additional charges may be pending.
