[Original Article] More than three hours after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 128 in Newton, traffic is just now getting back to normal in the north and southbound lanes of the highway.

Route 128 south appears to be moving again between Burlington (Route 3) and Newton, according to Google Maps traffic. The northbound side has moderate to heavy traffic through Needham to the Mass Pike.

The MassDOT Twitter account posted an update at 9:50 a.m. stating that the scene has cleared and all Route 128 lanes are open. However, there will be residual traffic delays.

The victim was in the highway's median strip, State Police said, and may have been struck while trying to cross the highway around 6:30 a.m.

The victim has not been identified at this time.
