The Weston Police Department wants the public to know that it is not associated with a recent Massachusetts Police Association (MPA) fund-raising campaign.
Weston residents are receiving calls asking residents for donations to support the MPA by buying tickets to the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge on Feb. 13, 2014.
"Most police officers in Massachusetts belong to the MPA. Apparently, several residents got calls last night from the MPA fundraisers claiming that they were 'Weston Police Officers' looking for a $300 donation.
"Please be advised that this has nothing to do with the Weston Police Department or its Officers," said Weston Police.
