A Few Good Westonites Needed

Four town committees seek volunteers for vacancies.

With nearly 40 town boards and committees established, covering areas from the Cultural Council to the Commissioners of Trust Funds, civic-minded Westonites have ample opportunity to contribute.

  • Four town committees, one new, have announced vacancies, and need residents to help:The Preservation Restriction Committee has two openings. These openings join one other person in advising the Historical Commission on the management of preservation restrictions. Attorneys are preferred, but other legal experience can be considered.
  • The Tree Advisory Group has one opening. The group is appointed by the selectmen to oversee new shade tree planting in Weston, and work with the tree warden. Anyone interested in applying should have an interest in trees and the environmental improvement of public streets and spaces.
  • A new committee, the Tercentennial Steering Committee, will plan events for Weston's 300th birthday in 2013. Anyone interested in Weston history should apply, as well as representatives from community groups in Weston.
  • The Police Station Sub-Committee of the Permanent Building Committee still has vacancies. Residents who are knowledgable about police operations or building-related business (like architects, builders and engineers) are invited to apply.
To apply for any of these vacancies, send a letter of interest with relevant background information to the Board of Selectmen, either via email at selectmen@westonmass.org or Town of Weston, Board of Selectmen, P.O. Box 378, Weston, MA 02493.
