How Weston Voted in Yesterday’s Primary Election

About 11 percent of Weston’s population voted in yesterday’s election.

In Weston, the turnout was low for yesterday's statewide primary election, which had several contested races.

In the race for the Republican nomination for the Representative in Congress, Fifth Middlesex district, Tom Tierney – the winner – received 117 votes in Weston. Jeff Semon received 67 votes and Frank Addivinola Jr. received 63.

Tierney will face incumbent Democrat Ed Markey. Weston currently is in the seventh congressional district, but will be in the fifth in 2013 based on redrawn lines.

For state representative, , which covers Weston, Wellesley and newly-acquired Precinct 4 in Wayland in 2013. Peisch received 642 votes in Weston, and challenger Jerome B. Carr (D-Wellesley) received 59 votes.

For the third Middlesex state senate seat, the race was too close to call as of 11 p.m. last night, but in Weston on the Democratic side, Joseph Mullin got the most votes with 296. Sandi Martinez had the most votes on the Republican side with 169.

There were 1,029 ballots cast in yesterday’s primary.
