Metrowest Caucus Wants Answers on Commuter Rail Problems

The bipartisan caucus sent a letter to the House Post Audit & Oversight Committee and the Joint Committee on Transportation.

On Monday, March 7, the Metrowest Caucus, a bi-partisan group of legislators representing areas served by both the Worcester/Framingham and Fitchburg commuter rail lines, sent a letter to the House Post Audit & Oversight Committee and the Joint Committee on Transportation, requesting that both committees hold hearings on the performance of the commuter rail during recent months. Members of the Metrowest Caucus have received an increasing amount of complaints in that time about delayed and cancelled trains, equipment failures, and overall poor performance.

“These lines serve a large number of constituents in our districts who rely on the commuter rail to get to work on time, and it is essential that the legislature work on solving these issues with the commuter rail service,” said Rep. Alice Peisch, whose district includes Weston, Wayland and one district in Natick. “We believe that further examination of these issues will help find ways to improve overall performance for our constituents.”
