Peisch Vs. Carr, Congressional Races on Today’s Primary Ballot

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

It’s a rare election Thursday throughout the state, and there’s one local race on today's ballot.

Rep. Alice Hanlon Peisch is up against Jerome B. Carr, both Democrats, in the race for the 14th Norfolk District seat. The 14th Norfolk covers Weston, Wellesley and Precinct 10 in Natick.

Peisch, 57, has seen little challenge since assuming office in 2003, except in 2010 when she faced challenger Royall H. Switzler in the November general election. , but it was closer than most had expected.

Carr, 73, president of Wellesley-based Carr Research Laboratory, Inc., told Boston.com that he wants to repeal the current Wetland Protection Act and enact legislation that would make it allowable to “enhance” protected wetlands.

The Massachusetts Fifth Congressional seat is contended on the Republican side today. Frank John Addivinola Jr., Jeffrey M. Semon and Tom Tierny contend for the Republican nomination for the chance to face incumbent Edward J. Markey in the general election.

The town website has ballots for the Republican, Democrat and Green-Rainbow parties.
