Tom Conroy becomes fifth candidate for 2012 U.S. Senate seat.

State Rep. Tom Conroy (D-Wayland) is throwing his hat in the 2012 U.S. Senate race according to an announcement posted on his website.

According to the announcement, posted today by Jon Sexton, who the Patriot Ledger is reporting has been tapped to run Conroy’s campaign, the campaign’s theme is “Your Voice in the U.S. Senate.”

Conroy joins a pool of challengers for incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown’s seat. Other candidates include Marisa DeFranco, Bob Massie, Setti Warren and Alan Khazei.

The announcement reports that Conroy plans to spend at least two months walking throughout the cities and towns of Massachusetts as he campaigns. That walk will begin with his hometown of Wayland, though no dates have yet been announced.

“The people of Massachusetts deserve to have a voice in the public policy process, and create a better future for themselves, their families, and their children. I want to be that voice for them in the U.S. Senate,” Conroy is quoted as saying in the announcement.
