Selectmen's Public Meeting on Deer Hunting is Monday Night

Selectmen will hear from the public on the proposed deer hunting on public lands plan.

At its meeting last month, to the Board of Selectmen, and tonight selectmen have a chance to hear residents' views during a public meeting on the topic.

The hearing is scheduled for 8 p.m., as part of the Board of Selectmen's meeting which begins at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

Proponents of allowing deer hunting on public land in Weston say it's a needed way to control Weston's deer population, and that other forms of managing the animals are costly and inefficient.

Those who are against deer hunting on public lands in Weston say they oppose it for safety reasons and believing that other means of controlling the deer population would be better suited to the town.
